"One of the first places I worked was an MHRC- Mental Health Rehabilitation Center. A locked facility for clients primarily diagnosed with Schizophrenia. Most of our clients were under a conservatorship or court ordered to be there. Oftentimes conversations were not linear or even sensable, and "progress" was not measured by a numeric value. This is where I had some of the best conversations ever because I learned the importance of connection; learned to be patient, empathetic, intentional and mindful. I think this milieu taught me some of the most valuable qualities you can have as a human being, and I just wana spread that to others"
